MSE upper jaw expander

Skeletal expansion of the upper jaw via microimplants - real, not just tooth tipping.

MSE (Maxillary Skeletal Expander) is a device for skeletal expansion of the upper jaw. Unlike classic expanders, it acts on the bone through microimplants, achieving real jaw expansion rather than just tooth tipping. It's indicated for adults with a narrow upper jaw, crossbite and obstructed nasal breathing; in teens and young adults it can replace surgical expansion. Installation includes 4 microimplants in the palate. Activation at home is 1-2 turns a day; expansion takes 2-4 weeks, followed by 4-6 months of stabilization.

When to come

  • A narrow upper jaw.
  • Crossbite.
  • Obstructed nasal breathing.
  • Insufficient space to align the teeth.
  • An alternative to surgical expansion in young adults.

What's included

CBCT diagnostics and planning

We assess jaw and palate width and plan the microimplant positions.

Placing 4 microimplants

Microimplants in the palate transfer force directly to the bone.

Fitting the MSE device

We attach the device that will expand the jaw.

Home activation protocol

We teach you to activate the screw at home - usually 1-2 turns a day.

Stabilization for 4-6 months

The device stays to consolidate the new jaw width.

How the visit goes

  1. 1CBCT diagnostics and planning.
  2. 2Placing 4 microimplants in the palate.
  3. 3Fitting the MSE device.
  4. 4Home screw activation (2-4 weeks).
  5. 5Stabilization for 4-6 months.

Why it matters

  • Real skeletal expansion, not just tooth tipping.
  • Can replace surgical expansion in young adults.
  • Improves nasal breathing.
  • A wider smile and a stable base for alignment.

FAQ

How is MSE different from a usual expander?
MSE acts on the bone through microimplants — real jaw expansion, not just tooth tipping.
Does placing the microimplants hurt?
Placement is under anaesthesia; mild discomfort is possible in the first days.
How do I activate the device at home?
Per a clear protocol — usually 1–2 screw turns a day. We'll show and write it all down.
How long does expansion take?
The expansion itself takes 2–4 weeks, then the device stays for 4–6 months of stabilization.
Will MSE help with breathing?
Jaw expansion often improves nasal breathing — especially with a narrow jaw.

A wider smile and freer breathing without surgery. We'll check whether the MSE expander suits you.
