Artistic tooth restoration

We recreate a tooth's shape, texture and colour so your smile looks natural.

Artistic restoration is the art of recreating a tooth down to the finest detail: mamelons, surface relief, the translucency of the edge. Unlike a standard filling, the doctor works on the front teeth, where the smile must look flawless. It is an excellent alternative to veneers when one or two teeth need improving without grinding. The result is immediate - you leave with a renewed smile.

When to come

  • A chip or uneven edge on a front tooth.
  • A gap between front teeth (diastema).
  • An irregular tooth shape or size.
  • A darkened old restoration on a visible tooth.
  • A wish to improve the smile without veneers.

What's included

Planning the result

If needed, we create a wax-up or digital mock-up so you approve the shape before work begins.

Matching colour and translucency

We account not only for shade but for translucency, texture and the incisal edge shape of neighbouring teeth.

Rubber dam isolation

A dry field for a flawless bond and precise shade work.

Layered sculpting

Using several shades and opacities, we reproduce the tooth's internal structure.

Recreating anatomy

We shape mamelons, surface relief and the incisal edge so the tooth blends into the row.

Final polishing

We bring the surface to a natural lustre identical to adjacent enamel.

FAQ

How is this different from a regular filling?
Artistic restoration recreates the tooth's anatomy and optics — translucency, texture, relief. It is aesthetic work, not just sealing a defect.
Artistic restoration or veneers?
Restoration needs no grinding and takes one visit — ideal for 1–2 teeth. Veneers make sense when many teeth are changed at once.
Can I see the result in advance?
Yes — we make a wax-up or digital mock-up for you to approve beforehand.
How long does it last?
Several years with careful use; the composite can be re-polished or refreshed.
Will it darken over time?
The surface may dull from coffee, tea or tobacco — restored by polishing at a hygiene visit.
