Repeat endodontic treatment is needed when the first attempt failed: a canal was underfilled, an extra canal was missed, the coronal filling leaked, or the tooth became reinfected. It is harder than primary treatment because the doctor works with already-treated canals. We carefully remove the old material, find the missed canals and eliminate the infection - all under the microscope. Often it is the only alternative to extraction.
