Frenuloplasty is the correction of a lip or tongue frenum. A short or tight frenum limits tongue mobility, affects speech, pulls on the gums and promotes recession. In children a short lingual frenum complicates breastfeeding and speech; in adults it causes recession on the lower incisors and obstructs orthodontics. We do it under local anaesthesia in 15-20 minutes, microsurgically, with an atraumatic suture and fast healing.
